There’s a misconception that self-employment is reserved for a certain type of person.
The extrovert.
The risk taker.
The person who has always dreamed of owning a business, buying a Lamborghini and becoming their own boss.
The reality is far less glamorous and far more human.
I know because I’ve lived it.
Although, my younger self started EXTRO Creative with the grand ambitions of becoming an entrepreneur. I quickly understood it was more out of necessity.
Along the way, I’ve made mistakes, paid for mentorship that wasn’t worth the money, invested time into things that didn’t work and picked up plenty of bumps and bruises.
That’s exactly why we’re launching the Self Employment Accelerator.
Not because the world needs another business course, but because more people deserve access to practical support that helps them turn their skills into sustainable income.
Self-employment isn’t about starting a business.
It’s about creating another option for yourself.
We’re living in a world where redundancy is common, industries are changing rapidly and traditional career paths no longer feel as predictable as they once did.
For some people, employment will always be the right answer.
For others, self-employment could become part of the answer.
The challenge is that many people never see that possibility for themselves.
They think they need years of experience, lots of money, a huge social media following or a groundbreaking idea.
You don’t.
You simply need a problem worth solving.
Everyone has skills. Not everyone knows how to monetise them.
That's the gap we're trying to bridge.
You might be a parent or carer who has spent years organising family life.
You might have years of industry experience.
You might be someone who naturally supports others, communicates well or has overcome challenges that other people are still trying to navigate.
Those experiences have value.
The question becomes:
Who can they help?
And:
What problem do they solve?
That’s where moving from idea to income begins.
This isn’t a programme about becoming a CEO overnight.
It’s a practical programme designed to help people build confidence, structure and momentum.
Because entrepreneurship isn’t just about business.
It’s an identity shift.
It forces you to confront perfectionism, fear, imposter syndrome and the need for permission.
In many ways, entrepreneurship simply reveals who you already are.
The good bits and the uncomfortable bits too.
But once you begin taking action, something changes.
It stops becoming a question of “if”.
It becomes a question of “how”.
Why now?
I recently spoke to someone who had worked for major global organisations and had been made redundant three times.
Eventually, he said to himself, “I can’t keep putting my family through this.”
So he built something himself.
That story isn’t unique anymore.
More people are asking themselves the same question:
What would happen if I backed myself?
That’s exactly what this accelerator is here to explore.
Not to promise overnight success.
Not to promise six figures.
But to help people discover what’s already inside them and build a realistic pathway towards earning an income from it.
Because once someone believes they can do it, everything else changes.
The structures can be built.
The systems can be learned.
The income can grow.
But belief has to come first.
